C/K>C 1500 - 5.7L 350 gas mileage!

Curious as to what you guys where getting as far as gas mileage on the 5.7L engines. I have a 95 Suburban with that engine, and I just did a few minor things like EGR and O2. I get 20mpg now..

I'm not sure what my MPG are but my 350 auto is much better than my S-10 4.3 standard both 4WD.I can probably estimate it to around 22-24.

are you guys talking on the highway doing 60 mph while cruising 10 feet behind a semi or on a city street, because i dont think any 350 can get 20 mpg with stop and go city driving, maybe 16 in a shortbed regular cab pickup or 18 in a camaro or something.

75MPH on the highway with city driving also when I got 20MPG. I did notice in the city heavy stop and go and heavy acceleration she gets about 17-18MPG. 1 passenger.

20?

My 5.7L Camaro gets 24-25 on a tuned port setup on the highway. I have a hard time envisioning a TBI engine pushing a brick getting 20....

I know that 4wd cuts back some mileage, but heck my 94 K1500 5.7 didn't even pull 20 when new - 17-18 MAYBE on a good day, now about 15 on a good day with 198K on the clock.

I have a 93 silverado with the king cab and 350. I also have the 5speed manual tranny and at 75mph it sits at 2100 rpm. I get at least 20+ but it certainly drops to 18-19 around town, even when I tow its still pretty good.

I get 16-18 depending on my foot.

But thats with intake/headers/cat back/new motor from fuel pump to oil pump.

when I drive I try to keep my rpms at 2 RPM or less... maybe little over if i have too. I notice this gives the most gas mileage.

but normall accelerations 2-3 rpms she drops of significantly! I try to avoid lights, and main city roads now. I use the cruise at 70-75mph which is about 2-2.2 rpms...

the last 2 days, I have been a little heavy on the foot, with my new shoes and all (tires) / I got 17mpg!

keep your foot out of the floor. And if you used your 4wd it will EAT gas. Also try replacing the o2 sensor.

I get around 16 mpg out of my 88 k1500 and that is if I am taking it easy. Wish I knew how to get 20 or so out of it. Heck, I would be thrilled with 18.

I have a 1989 1/2 4x4 and it wouldn`t get 20 if you pushed it off a 100 story building. 10.5-11 is average for town driving with 3miles of highway driving mixed in. It did get 16 on the highway, once.

My '98 Silverado Z71 Extended Cab gets 15 - 16 mpg on the highway until I hook up my 25' 5th wheel trailer, then it drops to 9 - 10 mpg. Sure wish I had a way to improve that! :-)
