i was jus wondering when i get my kit what should i look for, quailty wise?.........what do you think is better?,........high grade fiberglass kit or the more expensive urethane ones?..........what about hoods too, carbon or fiberglass:smoker2: [Reply]
more expensive urethane ones. Just look at cars that have been into wrecks with fiberglass there is fiberglass eveywhere. Urethane usually bends and is not broken. Also is the car is lowered fiberglass with crack if you scrape a curb to many times. [Reply]

yeah what he said my fiberglass bumper is a pain in the arse... nice thing about them is they can be repaired....it it doesn't take too much to damage them [Reply]
Each type has pros and cons...
Fiberglass I find seems to fit better while the urethane tends to be harder to work with. Urethane will take minor accidents really well but the paint seems to crack on them much easier since they are much more flexable. Fiberglass does crack if you do get into accidents or tend to curb it once in awhile... Oh well good luck deciding... [Reply]
Like I said earlier, stock bumpers are usually made out of Fiberglass, therefore, if painted correctly, the paint won't chip, but if the paint job was rushed on them, the paint looses its flexibility and chips easer, and also depends what primers, basecoats, and clear coats you use, some are made for flexible parts, while others are not. Just a little more info there for you.
As for fitment, i don't know for sure, i do know the paint though. [Reply]

Uhh.. you meen urethane I think... I have a urethane WW bumper and the thing is droping paint everywere! If I spray it too hard with a hose it flakes off... So Im leaning more towards a fiberglass kit... However the urethane's arent too much more... I dunno, it needs to be powdercoated or something... Can you powder coat non metalic objects? Also do they make the FEELS kits in uretheane? [Reply]
yea, thats what i meant to say seth. Like i said though, if you paint it right, it won't flake off, much like if you do anything right, it shouldn't mess up, its just a matter of doing it right.
uhhhh.....i don't know exactly how, but i do know that you can repair it. Try going to some parts store and asking them. If i wasn't out for spring break i would ask my instructor more about it, but needless to say, im out for spring break and can't ask him. [Reply]

If this happens, whoever painted ur kit did not use FLEX PRIMER and did not use FLEX PAINT, cause Urethane is made to FLEX and if the paint does not flex, it will just crack! [Reply]

HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't that what I have said twice already? I think I have. No offense there Ali.
If you use primer, basecoat, and clearcoat that is made to flex, it won't chip that easy. Some paints(primers, basecoats, and clearcoats) are made to flex, others are not, then there are some that aren't really made for it to start off, but you are able to add some type of flex additive to make it flexible. Also, the flash time for each coat is critical. If you try and rush it, you loose flexibility, if you let it take its time like its supposed to, it will be flexible. So when painting flexible parts(i.e. bumpers, side skirts, etc.) take your time and do things right. Otherwise it will chip. And if you take it to someone else to paint it, make sure they do it right.
Man, i should stop jumping down to the bottom...... i should read instrad of skim.... :-) i'm such a lazy bastard. or maybe i'm just :bonghitte [Reply]
