Info.
.................................................. ........................

May 2008) 1997 McLaren F1GTR "Long-Tail" s/n 19R - Offered at 1.85M

This is chassis No. 19R, one of just 28 McLaren GTR race cars ever built and one of just 10 Factory built "Long-Tails." (For comparison, McLaren built a total of 72 road-going versions of their legendary F1!)

This car was actively raced from 1997 though to 2001 scoring no less than four podium finishes and on one occasion a 1st overall! The BMW MotorSports V-12 engine produces 650bhp and is coupled to a 6-speed sequential gear-box.

This race car tips the scales at just 915kgs / 2,013lbs! Thats more than 150kgs and nearly 300lbs lighter than the earlier "short-tail" McLaren F1GTRs! An extremely comprehensive spares package accompanies this car which is offered for just $1.85M or approximately £930K - 1.175M Euros at today's exchange rates.

Warm regards,

Bill Noon / Symbolic Motor Car Company - 7440 La Jolla Blvd., La Jolla, CA 92037, USA

I will post all the pics and info that Bill has very kindly sent me later.

EDIT.

Please only contact Bill Noon for serious enquires and trust me that Greg and I will post everything that Bill has supplied so far. Best not to inundate him with the same repeat requests. As he may not be so forthcoming with any further requests of McLaren F1 info in the future. Thankyou.

Well I don't have an email from Bill :-) (:-)), but I did get an invitation from a friend at Symbolic to come down and see the car which I hope to do next week. I just need to make the final arrangements on scheduling. I hope it works out - I am excited to see this car. I haven't seen a longtail GTR since 1997 and at that time I wasn't such the McLaren fanatic that I am today.

PS - what do people think of the price $1.85m / £930,000 ?

Apparently #19R was bought by Symbolic in 2004 and hasn't been on a track since then

:-)

Hopefully the new owner may at least show it some tarmac

That's not a true statement - we have photos of it on track more than once since coming to the USA.

Perhaps he meant on a track in a race...? I think I have some pics of it on a track, he even mailed me some pics of it on one....:-)

Yeah - I don't believe it has been "run in anger" during this time period, but it has definitely been out on track at least twice that I can recall.

I guess this is as good a place as any to stick this picture - one I have never seen before of the original Presentation livery worn by GTR #19R:

Re pricing,

This car is a good £100K more than I was offered 11R for if that is any help.
When I was last talking to Paul L he still maintained GTR'r were not as valued as road ars with road converted GTR's half way between the two.
